She was predeceased by: her parents, Clay William Golding and Essie Mae Collins Golding; her former husband Charles Lawrence Cooke, Sr.; her husband Charlie James Lucas; her son Charles Lawrence "Larry" Cooke, Jr.; her children-in-law, Marylin Cook Cooke and Jack Allen "Jackie" Cox, Jr.; and her brothers, Laconda Buddy Golding, Clay William "Red" Golding, Jr. and Meredith Codell Golding.
She is survived by: her daughter Sheila Cooke Cox; her grandchildren, Emily Willard (Chad), David Cox and Boone Cooke; her great grandchildren, Ila Willard, Tabin Willard, Carter Cooke, Marie Cooke, Lucas Willard (Hannah) and Carson Willard; her brother Senator Golding; and her daughter-in-law Donna Stubbs. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (206 W Pine St, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Woodville Baptist Church (5108 Westfield Rd, Mt Airy, NC 27030).
