It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Jean Chason of White Oak, North Carolina, who passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Homer L. Tatum and Aleen Woodburn Tatum; her husband Howard Milton Chason; her son Hal Chason; her siblings, Lib Sessoms (Roscoe), Margie Evans and Vern Tatum (Linda); her brother-in-law Robert Dunn; and her son-in-law Thad Williams.

She is survived by: her daughters, Kathy Taylor (Freeman) and Tammy Williams; her sisters, Ann Dunn and Judy Bradshaw (Ed); her grandchildren, Amanda Everette (Larry), Rodney Hill (Jenna), Justin Phillips (Rebecca) and Joshua Hill (Abby); her great grandchildren, Lainee Everette, Abel Everette, Eleanor Hill, Madeline Hill, Holden Hill, Rollins Hill, James Phillips, Levi Phillips, Lydia Hill and Sutton Hill; and her sister-in-law Beth Cobb (R. E.). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
