With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Betty Smith of Whiteville, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 9, 2025 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie G. Tedder and Rosa Bass Tedder; her spouse Major Graham Smith, Sr.; her daughter Beverly Smith Norris; and her siblings, Charles Wayne Tedder, James Audell Tedder, William Delane Tedder, Christine Tedder Case, Eloise Tedder Marker and Mona Faye Tedder McLelland.
She is survived by: her children, Graham Smith, Jr. of Whiteville and Sherrie Smith Harkins; and her grandchildren, Heather Norris Weavil (John), Michelle Smith Rogers (Nick), Gregory Norris, Jr. (Danielle) and Byron Smith (Courtney). She is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, 31 Pleasant Plains Church Rd., Whiteville, NC 28472.
