She was predeceased by: her husband Jerald Mayes; her parents, Chalmers Rabon and Josephine Rabon; her sister Hilda Newman; and her parents-in-law, J. D. and Helen Mayes.
She is survived by: her sons, Rabon Mayes (Mona) of Fort Mill, SC and Craig Mayes (Denise) of Mooresville; her grandchildren, Victoria Casasola (Sebastian) of Greensboro, Salem Griffith (Matt) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and MaryKate McCoy of Cameron; her sisters, Brenda Brand (Jim) of Butner and Billie Ann Lane (Colon) of Myrtle Beach, SC; and her sister-in-law Sherry West (Jimmy) of Charlotte.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery (6120 Chadbourn Hwy, Chadbourn, NC 28431).
