It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Franklin Batten of Whiteville, North Carolina, who passed away on May 2, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Jesse Vann Batten and Bessie Cordilia Soles Batten; and his siblings, J. E. Batten, Grover Batten, Billy R. Batten, Sr., Joe Batten and J. C. Batten.

He is survived by : his wife Annie Cartrette Batten; his son Robert Franklin "Frankie" Batten, Jr. (Linda) of Nakina; his stepchildren, Rebecca McDowell (Ronald) of Clarendon, Laura Spivey (Michael) of Whiteville, Lisa Mills (Chuck) of Whiteville and Mark Fisher (Cindy) of Whiteville; his granddaughter Emilee; and his stepgrandchildren, Courtney, Christy, Phillip, Hannah, Zack, Bontee, Scott, Justin and Brandy. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
