He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Wilson Sr. and Jenny Richardson Wilson; and his former wife Maryann Margaret Straussner Wilson. He is survived by: his sons, Rodney E. Wilson Jr. (Sheila) of Lake Waccamaw, Matthew E. Wilson (Tori) of Lake Waccamaw and Thomas J. Wilson (Chelsea) of Lake Waccamaw; his siblings, Joe Wilson Jr. (Nellie) of Hallsboro and Kathy Wilson-Hoglund (Staffan) of Sweden; his close friend Sheila Young of Ash; his grandchildren, Katie, Kinsley, Lakyn, Brynnan, Drayton, Harper and Addison; and his wife Rebecca.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Lake Waccamaw Methodist Church (506 Lakeshore Dr, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
