He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Absher and Sybil Pollard Absher; his former wife Mary Lois Woodie Absher; his daughter Jennifer Absher; his granddaughter Reese Huskey; and his brothers, Jesse Absher, Jerry Absher and Jack Absher.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Pierce Absher; his daughters, Angel Adams Minton (Jeff) of Wilkesboro, Alisha Adams Huskey (Ronnie) of North Wilkesboro, Alison Adams Thornton of Wilkesboro, Regina Absher Combs (Dwayne) of McGrady and Deana Absher Johnson (Danny) of Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Alex Minton, Lauren Minton, Raylan Minton, Reagan Friday (Tre), Reid Huskey, Aubree Thornton, Pierce Thornton, Makari Absher, Sabrina Miller (Scott), Stephanie Dillard (Scotty), Courtney Johnson, Kelly Johnson and Natalie Johnson; his great grandchildren, Gavin Dillard, Garrett Dillard and Grayson Miller; and his siblings, Virginia Brooks (Bobby) of Virginia, Debbie Absher (Lenny) of Millers Creek and Charles Absher of Winston Salem.
