She was predeceased by: her mother Rebecca Geneva Gray; her husband Gilbert Shew; her daughter Janet Laws; her father Sherman Gray; and her brothers, William "Joe" Gray, Harrold Gray and Odell Gray.
She is survived by: her daughter Penny Poe of North Wilkesboro; her grandchildren, Matthew Laws (Kristin) of Wilkesboro and Heather Poe (Chad) of North Wilkesboro; her great grandchildren, Cayden Jennings of Wilkesboro, Mason Zeimer of North Wilkesboro, Alek Laws of Wilkesboro and Timothy Carpenter of Forsyth; her son-in-law Charles Laws of Wilkesboro; and her siblings, Roby Gray of Wilkesboro, Jimmie "Ray" Gray (Lynn) of Millers Creek, Betty Lou Dula of Ferguson and Ruby Nichols (Wayne) of Purlear.
