He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Conrad and Loretta Wilcox Settle; his siblings, Judy Settle Brown, Gene Conrad Settle and Dennis Shelton Eller; and his parents-in-law, Woodrow Higgins and Delia Cleary Higgins.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Carol Higgins Settle; his sons, Barry Settle and Dana Starnes (Jeremy Hilton Settle) of North Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Tiffany Settle Porter (Steven), Taylor Settle (Travis), Brook Settle and Beth Settle; his great grandchildren, Alana Mollico and Camdynn Mollico; and his sisters, Artie Eller Fulmer (Mark) of Clemmons and Rita Eller James (Joey) of Scottsboro, AL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
