He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Lawrence Phillips and Annie Lois Phillips of Wilkes County; his brother Rex Phillips of Millers Creek; and his mother-in-law Ruby Thompson "Mom-Thom". He is survived by: his wife Irene Thompson; and his sister Martha Phillips Philpot (Jim) of Asheboro.
