He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Taylor and Amie Hall Lucas; his former wife Dollie Howard Lucas; and his son-in-law Chuck Coates. He is survived by: his wife Gayle Batts Lucas; his children, David Arthur Lucas, Jr. (Lee Ann) of Burgaw, NC, Ernest Joseph Lucas of Beaufort, NC and Cynthia Lucas Coates of Creedmoor, NC; his grandchildren, Jeffery Lucas Chandler, Jesse Lucas, Jennifer, Seth Coates, Cori Melton, Tess Melton and Kala Melton; his great grandchildren, Traylan Thorpe, Ivory Nash and Adonis Bullard Lee; his siblings, Virginia Murray of Wallace, Betty Culbreth of Magnolia, Judy Bellamy of Supply, Joyce Rackley of Willard, Donald Lucas of Forest City, NC, Jerry Lucas of Rock Hill, SC and Robert Lucas (Rhonda) of Reidsville, NC; and his grandson Johnathon Orr. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family.
