He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Melvin and Exie Gurganious Padgett; and his sister Deborah Walker. He is survived by: his wife Melinda Marks Padgett; his children, Ann Moore (Alan) of Willard, Johnny Padgett (Christine) of Willard and Donna Smith (Donald) of Willard; his grandchildren, Chris Padgett (Leigh Anna), Kimberly Padgett (Tim), A. J. Moore (Sierra), Kevin Smith and Casey Smith; his great grandchildren, Kyla Michaud, Caleb Duncan (Devin), Joanna Pelletere and Aiden Green; and his siblings, Lucille Giddeons, Mitchell Padgett (Juanita), Joann Marshburn, Melvin Padgett (Donna), Joyce Ward (Bobby), Frances Brown (Clifton), Rebecca Fowler (Jim), David Padgett (Susan), Pattye Ebert, Robert Marks (Mary) and Chris Marks (Wanda). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel (612 S Norwood St, Wallace, NC 28466). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel (612 S Norwood St, Wallace, NC 28466). A burial will be held on Tuesday, June 17th 2025 at the Potts Presbyterian Church Cemetery (4085 NC-11, Willard, NC 28478).
