He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Curtis Norris and Viola Wells Norris; his wife Mollie Norris; his sons, Richard Lee Norris, David Earl Norris and Ted William Norris; and his grandsons, Jonathan Perry Norris and William Johnathan Norris.
He is survived by: his daughters, Darlene Anders of Burgaw and Betty Sherrill (Bob) of Willard; his grandchildren, Pam Hogan, Dean Blizzard (Anita), Dale Fisher (Michelle), Patty Powell (Jason), Ricky Norris, Teresa Parker (James), Christopher Norris and Kyle Norris; his sister Evelyn Parker of Wallace; and his close friend Eloise Register. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Wallace First Assembly of God Church (212 W Main St, Wallace, NC 28466). A reception will be held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Riverview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family believes John would be honored by memorial gifts made to the Wallace First Assembly of God Church Building Fund, 212 W. Main Street, Wallace, NC 28466.
