She was predeceased by: her parents, William Morton Hassell and Bertha Phelps Hassell; and her husband John Connell, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Cindy Kelly of Chocowinity, Clifton Oakley (Terry) of Henderson, Sheri Barber of Chocowinity and Jonathan Oakley (Carman) of Pikeville; her brother Albert Hassell; and her son Buddy. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren.
