He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Piner and Georgia Aleese Piner; his wife Maxine Piner; his daughter Teresa Leigh; and his sister Mollie Louise Piner.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. Kelly Piner of Chillicothe, OH and Gary Piner (Michele) of Morehead City; his grandchildren, Joseph Aldridge, Chance Piner (Destiny), Chase Piner, Matt Salter (Ruthanne) and Kayla DeMore (Mike); and his great grandchildren, Noah Salter, Kelsie Piner, Alexis DeMore, Madison DeMore, Lucas DeMore and Natalie DeMore.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Munden Funeral Home & Crematory (2112 Arendell St, Morehead City, NC 28557). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at the Carteret Memorial Gardens (800 NC-101, Beaufort, NC 28516).
