He was predeceased by : his parents, Willis Laverne Walton and Margaret Parker Walton; and his sister Kathy Lynn Walton. He is survived by : his wife Lisa Ann Ellis Walton; his children, Samantha Leigh Walton (Edmond "Goose" Locklear) and Joseph Andrew Walton; his adoptive son Cody Morrison; his sister June Ballance Hatch (Jim); his nieces, Peri Alayna Strickland and Savannah Hatch; his nephew Will Taylor (Meghan); his siblings-in-law, Bobby Ray Ellis, Jr. and Donna Ellis; and his niece Tabitha. He is also survived by several aunts, cousins and close friends.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Inc. (301 W Main St, Benson, NC 27504).
