Athena Nichols Obituary
We are sad to announce that on May 12, 2025, at the age of 80, Athena Nichols of Wilmington, North Carolina passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Athena Nichols to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parent Day; her husband Col. Jay B. Nichols; her parent Louis J. Poisson Jr.; her brothers, Hank and Jack Poisson; and her grandson Zach Moore.
She is survived by: her daughter Paula Moore (Bert); her grandchildren, Kyle and Hunter; her daughter Christy Beck (Greg); her grandson Dylan; the father of her children John C. Nelson; and her half-sister Candy Brower (Bill).
Visitation was held on Friday, May 16th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Market Street Chapel (1617 Market St, Wilmington, NC 28401). A graveside service was held on Friday, May 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Oakdale Cemetery (520 N 15th St, Wilmington, NC 28401).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Tina's memory, in support of continued research and care for those affected by the disease.
