He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Lawrence Canaday and Annie Ray Canaday (Reynolds); and his brothers, Joseph Canaday and William "Butch" Canaday. He is survived by: his wife Linda Canaday; his daughters, Jennifer Jones (Wayne) and April Ward (Chris); his grandchildren, Mason Jones, Blakely Jones, Ian Jones (Anne Carol), Hunter Jones (Rachel), Banks Ward, Tucker Ward and James Ward; his siblings, Jeff "Buddy" Canaday (Barbara) and Kimberly Starnes (David); and his aunt Ora Lee Simmons. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wilmington Funeral & Cremation Chapel (1535 S 41st St, Wilmington, NC 28403).
