He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Sylvester Whitesell and Beatrice Floyd Whitesell; and his siblings, Carol Neece, Richard Whitesell and James "Buddy" Whitesell.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ragan Whitesell; his sons, Michael Whitesell (Lori) and Todd Whitesell (Kelly); his sisters, Maxine Cheek (Holt) and Lois Fuller; his grandchildren, Josh Whitesell, Ragan Wilson (Davis) and Emma Hawley (Kyle); and his caregiver Judy Wells.
