He was loved and cherished by many people including: his daughters, Abby Ward (Christopher) and Nina Carlson (Deven); his grandchildren, Alexander Ward, Natalie and Lila Carlson; his siblings, Robert Byrd Emerson (Nancy), Cynthia Nelson (Bob) and Karin Kiewel (Jim); his sister-in-law Karen Parker (Gregg); and his parents, Harry Byrd Emerson and Marion Lacey Wilson Emerson. He was also cherished by partner for all his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Fred would be honored by a donation to either the Cape Fear Literacy Council or his church in his memory; however, the best way to celebrate Fred's life would be by volunteering for a local organization.
