She was predeceased by: her parents, Eddie Bissette and Mary Bissette; her husband Hank Matthews; and her siblings, Dorothy Bissette, Janie Joyner, Lawrence and Elton Bissette.
She is survived by: her son Hansen Matthews Jr. (LeAnn Pierce); her granddaughters, Lindsey Segal (Mark), Lauren Ramchandran and Landis Phillippi (Scott); her brother Edward Bissette; her sister-in-law Wanda Farmer (Carl); and her niece Carla Weiss (Mark). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Windermere Presbyterian Church (104 Windemere Rd, Wilmington, NC 28405). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family's scholarship fund at Cape Fear Community College: Hank & Trudy Matthews Scholarship. Donations should be made to the "CFCC Foundation" and mailed to 411 North Front Street, Wilmington, NC 28401 or online at cfcc.edu/give.
