He was predeceased by: his father David M. Cawthorne; his brother David Cawthorne; and his granddaughter Samantha Cawthorne. He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Pickett Cawthorne; his sister Barbara Cawthorne Crafton of Metuchen, NJ; his children, John D. Cawthorne (Janine) of Longs, SC, Ian Alexander (Jenny) of Taichung, Taiwan, Laura Cawthorne Updyke (Craig) of Warrenton, VA and Erica Cawthorne (Francis) of Alexandria, VA.; and his grandchildren, Zachary, Rebecca, Andrew, Carter, Thomas, Aaron, Emmalynne and David.
