He was predeceased by : his parents, William Francis "Frank" Burns and Doris Brown Burns; and his sister Bonnie (Tuter). He is survived by : his family, John "David" Burns (Kim) and James "Shannon" Burns (Tina); his granddaughters, Jennifer Burns of Hamilton, Montana, Katherine Burns of Alexandria, Virginia and Ashley Burns of Granite Falls, NC; his wife Julie Horrell Burns of Atkinson, NC; his stepdaughters, Sheri Vereen and Misty Barnes; his former life partner Shilda Berry Burns of Granite Falls; and also, Patsy Harris (Dudney), Vicky Schlenker (Pat), Johnny Perry (Jan) and Doris Carlton (Steve).
