He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Thomas Cox, Jr. and Love Edwards Cox; and his sisters, Brenda Hinshaw and Linda Edmonson. He is survived by: his wife Julia "Julie" Semaske Cox; his children, Joseph Thomas "Jay" Cox IV (MacKenzie) of Sea Girt, NJ and Anna Elizabeth Moser (Robert) of Holly Springs, NC.; his grandchildren, Braden Jordan Cox, Cooper Jaxon Cox and Addison Lane Moser; and his sisters, Tricia Fodel (Tommy) and Kristie Peters. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Wilmington Shrine Club (4510 College Rd, Wilmington, NC 28412).
