He was predeceased by: his parents, John Clement Hearne and Mary Gaines Cartinhour Hearne; his wife Nancy Kise Hearne; his sister Nancy Hearne Jones; and his nephew Kevin Jones.
He is survived by: his children, Ashley Miller, Heather Jackson (Brian) and Joseph C. Hearne II (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Jack Miller, Mary Gaines Hearne, Joseph C. Hearne III, Benjamin Hearne, Tolson Jackson, Evan Johnson, Dylan Johnson and Ava Johnson; his nephews, Steve and Craig Jones; and his pets, Max and Snowy.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Andrews Mortuary (1617 Market St, Wilmington, NC 28401). A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
