Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Lester Lee Hewett Jr. of Wilmington, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 75, on February 25, 2025. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Lee Hewett and Kizzy Hewett (Britt); his daughter Melanie Phelps; and his siblings, Dave Hewett and Christine Justice.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Hewett (Maultsby); his children, Alex Hewett (Kristin), Daniel Hewett and Jennifer Smith (Jonathan); his sister Shannon Clemmons; his grandchildren, Carter Smith, Shepard Smith, Mara Phelps and Grace Phelps; his sister-in-law Teresa Hewett; and his friend Wayne Ash. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

“To the family of Lee Hewett: I did not have the privilege to meet Lee in person but knew him very well. Daniel and my son, Gannon have been close friends for many years. Daniel has been a part of our family in Henderson, NC for many years. A very well respective young man Daniel is. I am very sure it came from and his parents. Daniel would often speak of his father and how his love for him and his mom were very strong. Stories when he was growing up, and his Military stories.”
