It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Askew of Wilmington, North Carolina, who passed away on January 10, 2026, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Askew and Elsie Askew; his siblings, Edwin Askew, Jr., Velma Pearce, Jean Dant and Virginia "Jeni" Scarano; and his nephews, Jay Pearce, Adam Askew, Louie Vanderslice and Daniel Hyche.
He is survived by: his wife Wendy Askew; his children, Michael Askew and Jennifer Hewett (Randy); his grandchildren, Mathieu Hewett (Caiti), Madisyn Hewett (Malton Tripp III) and Parker Hewett; his siblings, Mary Jones (Ken), Dennis Askew (Jeri), Joan Geiry (Pat), Joe Askew (Nancy), Donna Askew and Don Askew (Connie); and his cousin Jan Lee (Carl).
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to Hampstead Baptist Church.
