He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Manning, Alma Hyatt, Lenny and Carrie Smith; his parents, Ollie Hyatt Smith and Charles Coleman Smith (Smitty); and his brother Charles Coleman Smith, Jr. (Tim).
He is survived by: his children, Starr Anders (Jason) of Richlands, NC and Captain T. C. Smith (Becca) of Riegelwood, NC; his grandchildren, Austin Anders, Zoe Anders and Coleman Smith; his siblings, Kim Watkins (Bobby), Larry Brunson-Smith (Joseph) and Gary Smith; his nephews, Jeremy Russell (Bibiana) and Joshua Russell (April); his niece Beth Smith (Alex); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Joceyln Russell, Jacob Russell, Jyler Russell and Joycelind Williams.
