We are sad to announce that, on August 24, 2023, at the age of 87, Velma Capps Weeks in Wilmington, North Carolina, born in Selma, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Hubert Walton Capps and Clentis Wall Capps; her siblings, Elmer Eugene Capps and Betsy Capps Pearce; and her husband Wayne Weeks.

She is survived by: her daughters, Angela Baker Harris (Randy) and Beverly Baker-Newsholme (Erik); her grandson Cameron Baker Harris; her sisters, Mildred Capps Morgan (Jim) and Verla Capps Lewis; and her friends, Elaine Hill, Regina Kutschka, Helen Courtney, Vera Gadson and Kathy Meetze. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
