He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Cornelius Groves, Sr. and Mildred Brown Groves; his brother Billy Groves; and his mother-in-law Marie Kornegay. He is survived by: his wife Jane Groves; his sons, Kevin Groves (Shelly) of Wilmington, NC and Keith Groves (Jennifer) of Rocky Point, NC; his grandchildren, Kayli (Matt), Audrey, Wyatt, Andy and Shelby; his great grandchildren, Lincoln and Maverick; his brothers, David Groves and Stevie Groves (Joanna); his sisters-in-law, Violet Tapia (Jorge), JoAnn Underhill (John) and Glenda Groves Smith (Jerry); his father-in-law Justin Kornegay; and his aunt Belle Brown. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Coble Funeral Chapel (1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
