He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Best, Sr. and Mazie Vivian Swain Best; his wife Patricia King Best; and his siblings, Wilbur Best, Jeanwood Best Bennett and Caroldean Best Bullis.

He is survived by: his sons, Phillip Best and Timothy Best (Lori); his grandchildren, Kelsey Best and Christian Best (Katelynn); his great grandchildren, Lawson and Wrenley; and his siblings, Clyde Best (Donna) and Louise Best Ammons (Jimmy).

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel (17730 Hwy 17, Hampstead, NC 28443). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at the Follows Sea Lawn Memorial Park (17730 Hwy 17, Hampstead, NC 28443).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William's name to Peace Baptist Church, 320 Military Cutoff, Wilmington NC, 28405.
