With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of William J. Whitacre Jr. (Wilmington, North Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 4, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Whitacre and Dorothy Whitacre of Louisville, Kentucky.. He is survived by: his wife Nadine; his children, Billy (Allison), Sheri (Tom), Jeff (Kim) and Kelly (Rob); his grandchildren, McKenzie (Dillon), William (Amanda), Allie, Katherine (Charles), Sarah, Emily, Zach, Michael and Matthew; and his sister Barbara Cole. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill's name may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital or Operation Smile.
