With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Willie A. Oliver (Wilmington, North Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 25, 2025 at the age of 65. He was predeceased by: his parents, Aaron Oliver and Magdalene Frazier Oliver; his siblings, Marion James Oliver, James "Nooney" Oliver, Anthony Bruce Oliver and Cassandra V. Oliver Little; and his niece Darnetta Michelle Oliver.
He is survived by: his brothers, Southside and Nathaniel "Nate" J. Oliver; his nephews, Seneca M. Oliver (Colethia), Donnell T. Oliver, Isaiah Thomas, Jerome Oliver and Derek Oliver; his niece Brittany Watkins (Sabrina Hill-Black); his great-nephews, Khali Oliver, Tristan Oliver, Jayden Oliver and Maddox Thomas; his aunts, Myrtle F. Hill, Barbara F. McKinnon (James Lloyd), Beverly F. Sweat (Jerome) of Wilmington, NC, Sadie F. Doughty and Dorothy F. Woodberry of Hemingway, SC; his sister-in-law Jackie Watkins; his siblings, Darwin "Squash" Hansley, Alonza "Squirrel" Hanslev (Kim), Donnell'Ghost" Hansley, Yolanda Hansley Lyde, Marveta Hansley and Mareka Deon Hansley; his goddaughter Janesse Hansley of Wilmington, NC.; and his close friends, Clarence "Mert" Williams, Rennie Holmes and Paletha Wilson. He is also survived by many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at 4215 McClelland Dr, Wilmington, NC 28405. A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Shaw Funeral Home Chapel (520 Red Cross St, Wilmington, NC 28401).
