He was predeceased by: his grandson Michael Whitfield. He is survived by: his wife Shelby Barnhill Whitfield; his sons, Bruce Whitfield (Pam) and Darrell Whitfield (Amanda); and his siblings, Andy Whitfield and Frances Herche. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren; and his 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Quinn McGowen Funeral Home (315 Willow Woods Dr, Wilmington, NC 28409). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
