We announce the death of Annie Cockrell (Wilson, North Carolina), who passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 78. Annie will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Annie will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Annie will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Annie’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Vannie Earl Morgan and Ethel Taylor Morgan; and her former husband Donnie H. Cockrell. She is survived by: her daughter Cheryl Cockrell of Bailey; her grandchildren, Cameron White, Emma White and Chloe White; and her sisters, Barbara Boykin (Charles) and Brenda Page (Robbie). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Shingleton Funeral Home (2413 Nash St NW, Wilson, NC 27896). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home for end of life expenses.
