He was predeceased by: his wife Peggy Baker Short; his parents, Emmit Short and Cora Hayes Short; and his siblings, Norma Hawley (Elmer), Edith Daniel (Marvin), Norman Short (Hiawatha) and Merlin Short (Dorothy).
He is survived by: his daughter Evelyn Short of Wilson; and his brother-in-law Ray Baker (Carol) of Wilson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wilson Memorial Service (2811 Fieldstream Dr N, Wilson, NC 27896). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
