She was predeceased by: her parents, Lewis Gay and Helen Gay; and her brother William "Pete" Gay. She is survived by: her husband James Gardner; her son Stephen Gardner (Rhonda); her siblings, James Ray "Jimmy" Gay and Shirley Gay; and her grandchildren, Stephen James Gardner and Jordan Leigh Gardner. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home (2704 Nash St N, Wilson, NC 27896). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
