She was predeceased by: her husbands, Garland Thomas Deans and Esley Wheeler; her parents, Connie Pridgen and Alberta Owens Pridgen; and her siblings, Faye Ward, Edna Boykin, Ronald and James Pridgen.
She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Spence (Alan) of Atlantic Beach, Connie Martinmianakis (Mark) of Wilson and Cathy Knox (Ben) of Mocksville. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
