He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Barnes Sorrell; his parents, Clifton Sorrell and Liney Franks Sorrell; and his brothers, Robert Sorrell (Hazel) and Vernon Sorrell (Shirley).
He is survived by: his children, Pat Wilhite (Dave) of Martinsville, VA, Phyllis Ballance (Richie) of Lucama and Hugh Sorrell of Washington; his grandchildren, James Wilhite (Manuela), Stuart Sorrell (Cara), Justin Ballance (Melissa) and Casey Ballance; and his sisters-in-law, Vickie Wade Sorrell of LaGrange and Ruth Cockrell of Wilson. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
