It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jimmy Ray Johnson (Wilson, North Carolina), who passed away on October 8, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Jimmy Ray Johnson to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Aaron Johnson and Alma Price Johnson; and his brothers, Bill and Carlton Johnson. He is survived by: his children, Angie Fulghum (Will), Kevin Johnson (Leah) and Lynn Cromer (Jeff); his grandchildren, Susan Sasser (Ron), Rachel Ballance (Kevin), Matthew Johnson (Brythe), Kelsey Fulghum, Jackson Cromer (Rachel) and Hannah Shumate (Brett); his close friend Carol Fulghum; his sister Donna Thorne (James); his sisters-in-law, Marie and Jackie Johnson; and his former wife Lynda Johnson. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Joyner's Funeral Home (4100 Raleigh Rd Pkwy W, Wilson, NC 27896). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 at 11:45 AM at the Evergreen Memorial Park (2800 Nash St N, Wilson, NC 27896).
