Joan Starling Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Starling of Wilson, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 30, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Joan may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Joan touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her husband Freddie Starling; and her parents, Jeffery Lee and Ruth Ann Barfield Lane. She is survived by: her children, Sharon Runtas of Eureka, Kim Batchelor of Elm City, Wendy Taylor of Gloucester and David Edwards (Brandy) of Newport; and her sisters-in-law, Shirley Starling Stallings and Jo Ann Starling Harrell. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
