He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Douglas Handy Sr. and Levan Wilkins Handy; and his brother Jessie Handy Jr.. He is survived by: his children, Cassandra Handy Horsley of Charlotte, NC and John Earl Handy Jr. (Tonia) of Wilson, NC; and his siblings, Reverend Roy Lee Handy (Joan) of Eden, NC, Annie Mae Handy of Wilson, NC, Brenda Joyce Handy of Highpoint, NC and Mary Jane Wright of New York. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one great grandson.
