We are sad to announce that on January 8, 2021 we had to say goodbye to Joseph Barnes of Wilson, North Carolina. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Barnes, Sr. and Lossie McCoy Barnes; his daughter Victoria V. Warren; and his brothers, Jessie Barnes, Johnnie Barnes, Jr. and Willie "Coonie" Barnes.

He is survived by: his children, Janice Battle of Rocky Mount, NC, Wanda Woodson (Charles) of Colorado Springs, CO, Michael A. Barnes (Elizabeth) of Wilson, Richard V. Barnes (Iris) of New Palestine, IN and Shawn Q. Barnes (Troy) of Midlothian, VA; and his brother Robert Barnes of Wilson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other special relatives and friends.

Due to COVID-19 the family will not be receiving family and friends at this time nor will there be a repast.

“I cannot say how sad I am to know Joe has left this earth. I have had the incredible pleasure of having him be a special friend to my son Trey and a special part of my home. For years he would sit in the kayak, fish, tip his hat back and ponder life. He was bright, driven, loving, compassionate and a truth seeker. He was like a son to me. He never left without sharing what the day had meant to him. Watching him, I knew his heart was in a good place. Prayers for you all. RIP Joe. Love you!”
