He was predeceased by: his parents, Mark Lee and Mattie Ellis; his brothers, Phil Ellis and Dan Ellis; and his son-in-law Richard Scarberry.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kim Dunn (Jeff) of Stantonsburg and Carrie Barberio (David) of Stantonsburg; his grandchildren, Kandice Scarberry (Kyle) of Wendell, Savannah Barberio (Spencer) of Sharpsburg, Lee Dunn (Kimberly) of Wilson and Mark Dunn of Cary; his great grandchildren, Jamal and Amari Crumel; his caregiver Sharon Tripp of Stantonsburg; and his siblings, Linda Hughes (Henry) of Wilson and Joseph Ellis of Raleigh. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Joyner's Funeral Home (4100 Raleigh Rd Pkwy W, Wilson, NC 27896). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Good News Church (7000 Holdens Cross Rd, Fountain, NC 27829).
