He is survived by: his wife Helen Carraway Self; his daughter Samantha Self of Rocky Mount; his stepsons, Craig Wade (Deborah) of Apex and Garland Wade, Jr. (Kimberly) of Black Creek; his brother Robert "Bob" Self; his sister-in-law Julean Self of Roseboro; his grandchildren, Brandy Lucas (Daniel), Carter Wade (Riley), Tyler Brackfield (Samantha) and Austin Brackfield (Sarah); and his great grandchildren, Layla Lucas and Hayden Brackfield.
