He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Samuel Flippin and Hazel Davis Flippin; and his wife Linda Ann Leigh. He is survived by: his friend Duke University; his daughter Elizabeth Leigh Flippin Krause (Kenneth Charles Krause) of Raleigh, NC; his granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Krause of New York City, NY. and Katherine Leigh Krause of New York City, NY.; his cousins, Joyce Wilkins Gilmour (Sanford), Betty Patterson (Mount Airy) and Gay Williams (Morehead City); his nephews, Robert E. Leigh III (Mabel) of Cambridge, MA and Thomas Leigh (Angela) of Minneapolis, MN.; and his friend Michael P. Smith of Morehead City.
