She was predeceased by: her parents, George Lester Grissom and Edith Jennings Grissom; her husbands, Walter William Hamilton and Milton Vernon Cahoon, Jr.; her siblings, George Albert Grissom (Sylvia Howe Grissom), Edward Gene Grissom (Kathleen Hollowell Grissom), Eva Ann Grissom Jones (Nathan Lee Jones) and Judith "Judy" Kay Grissom Stewart; and her siblings-in-law, Wilson Eugene Glaze, Betty Hunsinger, Helen Hamilton Russell (Charles), Sarah "Lucille" Hamilton Ramsey (Grover), Naomi Cahoon Futrell and Frank Hamilton.

She is survived by: her daughters, Edie Ann Hamilton (Ahmed Shawky Aziz) of Durham and Billie Jean Hamilton (Christopher Jeremie Lilley) of Wilson; her grandsons, Alexander Hamilton Aziz (Kelsey Laurenz) of Leander and Mitchell Garnet Evans, Jr. of Wilson; her sister Caroline "Carolyn" Mae Grissom Glaze of Hickory; her sister-in-law Alma Dean Cooper of Columbia; her stepchildren, Connie Cahoon Liles (Joel) of Garner, Kaye Cahoon Phelps of Garner and Milton Vernon Cahoon III (Angie) of Creswell; and her stepson-in-law Larry Whitehurst of Garner. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
