He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Grate and Catharine Matilda Grate; his sisters, Betty Robinson and Bernice Bates; and his grandson Daniel Thomas Grate.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Ann Wilks Grate; his children, Thomas William Grate Jr. (Stacy) and Tammy Colleen Grate; and his granddaughter Samantha Ann Grate. He is also survived by eight nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to the Hospice Foundation and Forest Hills Baptist Church.
