He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie James Byrd Sr. and Ilethia Byrum Byrd; his son Jerry Walter Byrd; and his siblings, Harry Byrd, Lonnie James Byrd Jr. Aubrey, Shirley Vaughan and Carolyn Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Alexander Byrd; and his sisters, Barbara Tadlock of Windsor, Erma Ford of Roanoke Rapids and Jean Ward of Vanceboro. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
