He is survived by: his children, Tonya Mitchell Peele (Michael) of Wake Forest, NC and Max Mitchell of Charlotte, NC; his sister Arthurice Mitchell of Rocky Mount, NC; his grandson Marcel Mitchell Peele of Charlotte, NC; his godson Eddie Graham (Connie) of Elizabeth City, NC; and his sibling's children, Daphne Bond of Windsor, NC, Mattison Bond of Durham, NC, Mattelyn Bond Futrell of Charlotte, NC, Matthew Bond, Sr. of Windsor, NC and Matthew Bond, Jr. of Greenville, NC. He is also survived by cousins and many friends.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Cherry Family Cemetery (2123 US-13, Ahoskie, NC 27910-9481).
